      2020-2022 3.0L Duramamax Black box Instructions

      This will help you unlock and flash your LM2 3.0L Duramax 1500 Pickup

      Thank you for Purchasing your 2020-2022 3.0L Duramax tuning package. The Black Box Tuner has streamlined the 3.0L Tuning process. Please follow the steps below in order. Do this in a safe location with internet, preferable your house or shop. Weekdays when support is open is also suggested. You will be required to Email in stock reads and information before receiving the tune files. Tune files can usually be expected within 1 business day.

       

      Setting up the Blackbox:

      1. Layout your Black Box device & Content in the supplied bag.
      2. Download the software found on the Drive or at https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/18UJi0QiAQjXKtitUEEXgElFo0OYoIRcs?usp=drive_link
      3. INSTALL VCP for 32 or 64 bit.
      4. Install The Autoflasher software (You may need to update this program several times to bring it up to date, updates are prompted when opening the program)
      5. Perform the Firmware update if prompted to do so.
      6. After Installing, Open the Autoflasher Software & Plug in your black box with the supplied USB cable.
      7. Go to Cable->Check Firmware (if firmware update is available then do it and if not then proceed)

       

       Unlocking Your E46 ECM: (we recommend using a battery charger for this procedure)

      1. For ECM tuning, you will need the fuse jumper and the obd2 adapter plugged into the truck.
      2. After your Black box is installed/connected to the obd2 port you will need to launch the program, click cable, connect to the truck and select GM under the oem tab.

      3. Click on the obd tab, choose perform unlock and connect the jumper cable under the hood.

      a. Fuse box for the jumper cable is located under the hood

      b. Make sure the fuse tap is plugged in closest to the passenger side fender

      4. Click yes, select E46 and then click enter.

      5. Stock file will no be retrieved and it will start the unlock process, leave the key on and everything plugged in for this procedure.

      6. After the flash completes you will receive a message saying flash completed. (If the flash fails you may need to perform the unlock procedure a couple more times)

      7. To check and make sure the ecm is unlocked click obd, choose unlock, check for unlock.

      Unlocking your T93 tcm:

       

      1. Remove half of the screws on the front half of the drivers side felt fender well so you have access to the tcm, please watch the video below for reference. 

      2. The tcm is located behind the engine control module and needs to be removed from the vehicle.

      3. Connect the t93 tcm to the tcm harness and connect the battery terminal clips to your battery

      4. Launch the autoflasher program, click cable, connect to the truck and select GM under the oem tab.

      5. Choose service mode, select unlock and choose yes.

      6. Chose t93 and it will perform the unlock. (if the unlock does not work then flip the toggle switch on the harness)

      6. After the tcm is unlocked you can reinstall it into the truck.

      8. Once unlocks has been confirmed please email your stock ecm file as well as a screenshot of your Autoflasher screen to stockfile@duramaxtuner.com with your name and order number. (your tunes should be built within 24-48 hours)

       

       Writing Your E46 Engine Tune:

       

      1. After your Black box is connected to the obd2 port you will need to launch the program, click cable, connect to the truck and select GM under the oem tab.

      2. Turn the ignition to the run position by holding the start button down for 7 seconds.

      3. Click on the obd tab, choose write and select ecu.

      4. Search the modified ecm file that we sent you and open it.

      5. It will ask if the ecm is unlocked hit yes, when it asks you to cal flash only choose yes.

      6. The modified file is now being written to the truck. (if it asks you for any information please call in)

      7. Once complete you can turn the ignition off, back on and then the write is complete.

       

      Flashing your t93 Transmission Tune:

       

      1. After your Black box is connected to the obd2 port you will need to launch the program, click cable, connect to the truck and select GM under the oem tab.

      2. Turn the ignition to the run position by holding the start button down for 7 seconds.

      3. Click on the obd tab, choose write and select tcu.

      4. Search the modified tcm file that we sent you and open it.

      5. The modified file is now being written to the truck.

      6. Once complete you can turn the ignition off, back on and then the write is complete.
