      Hp Tuners 2022+ Cummins Tune Package Install Instructions

      This will help you get the reads to build the tune files for your 22+ Cummins. This installation requires assistance so please call in if you do receive an email with further steps.

       

      Begin by installing the programs listed below and do not swap modules until told to do so.

       

      1.‌ Download & Install .Net Windows Runtime 6:
      ‌2. Download‌ ‌&‌ ‌Install‌ ‌the‌ ‌latest‌ ‌VCM‌ ‌Suite‌ ‌Beta‌:


      3. Install the bypass cable before you start the read, please install your Bypass Cable into the gateway module under the dash. All you need to do is run 2 wire connector to the gateway module and plug the OBD part into the factory OBD port.
       
        1. Remove the bypass cable from the bag.

                 b.   Plug in the Bypass cable into to your factory OBD2 port.

                c. Plug the 2 pin connector in under the dash, the port is located above the parking brake lever.

      Stock Read (Factory ecm reads)

      Open "VCM Editor" or "RTD Flasher" for reading‌ ‌&‌ ‌writing.‌ ‌
      "VCM Editor" will be used if you have an MPVI3, your files should be saved as "filename.hpt". "RTD Flasher will be used if you have an RTD, your files will be saved as "filename.rtd".
       
      Put the ignition in the run position with the engine off and the mpvi3 plugged into the computer.
      To‌ ‌read‌ ‌your‌ ‌ECM‌ ‌ ‌select‌ ‌the‌ ‌green‌ ‌read‌ ‌arrow‌ ‌in‌ ‌the‌ ‌top‌ ‌center.‌
      If you cannot select the read button, select File>Close to close the opened item.
      - Select the MODULES you would like to read. (choose read entire)
      ‌Save‌ ‌this‌ ‌file‌ ‌to‌ ‌your‌ ‌desktop‌, include your first/last name and VIN in the file name, ‌and‌ ‌email‌ ‌it‌ ‌to‌ ‌your support rep along with an info log.
       

      Info Log Instructions

      Step 1: Click the VCM Suite Info button in either the VCM Editor or VCM Scanner program.

       

      Step 2: Click the blue circle "i" icon to poll the software and the vehicle. Note: make sure your cable is connected to the vehicle and the vehicle's key is in the ON position before clicking the blue icon. This step may take five to twenty seconds to complete. 

       

      Step 3: When the Infolog has completed generating, click on the Save icon. Save it with your first and last name and VIN. Once the file is saved you will email those files to your rep.

       

      Step 4: The tuning department will build the tune files and they will be emailed over once they have been completed. These tune files need to licensed and flash in a certain order as stated below. The new ecm can be installed when you receive your modified tune files.

       

      **When the stock ecm reads have been emailed to the representative, the typical turnaround time is 1-2 business days. SCHEDULING A REMOTE INSTALL TIME TO HELP PULL READS OFF OR INSTALL THE NEW MODIFIED TUNES IS AVAILABLE. PLEASE CALL 815-568-7920 for help** 

       

      **THIS ECM SWAP PROCESS CAN TAKE UP TO 2 ADDITIONAL HOURS If IF IT IS YOUR FIRST TIME. IT IS RECCOMENDED THIS BE DONE BY A MECHANIC OR SOMEONE FAMILIAR WITH VEHICLES AND TOOLS**

       

      ** If you have purchased your own module whether it is a New 2022 or a used 2019-2021 module, this will not automatically work in the truck. An Unlock/flash is required at Calibrated Power Solutions before it will work in the Vehicle. Please Ship ECM in with order number and salesman’s name**

       

      Step 5: Please swap in your new Unlocked Controller. DOING THIS FROM THE TOP SIDE BY REMOVING THE INTERCOOLER PIPE AND THROTTLE VALVE TO GAIN ACCESS IS OUR OPINION OF THE BEST WAY. You may also need to unplug the connector going to the regulator on the CP3. There are 4 bolts that hold the PCM to the block and 2 bolts on each connector. 1 connector has 2 10MM bolts, the other connector has 2 8MM bolts. 

      Step 6: After the new PCM is installed, Please follow the steps below to first license and then flash the files in order. Be sure to reinstall everything you removed including the throttle valve plug and wire going to the high pressure fuel pump.
       
      Step 7: Open up the email that you were sent with the modified tune files. Be sure you are on the latest HP Tuners beta by downloading it from their website before proceeding. You need to flash the license and flash the #1 tune first, flash the #2 tune then flash the #3 tune and you should be set from there. If you need any help please let us know.

      To load a tune onto your Cummins start by opening up the Vcm editor program and hit the open button in the top left corner. (start with the ignition on and the mpvi3 plugged into the truck/computer)



      1. Search out the tune file you would like to load and open it

       



      2. With the tune file open hit the red arrow at the top to open the write feature





      3. If this is your first time flashing you will need to choose specific under licensing and hit yes to proceed, skip to step 4 if this is not the first time loading the tune. (The ecm takes 6 credits)







       

      4. With the writing box up choose write entire and hit the write button

       

       

      5. When doing a full flash it will take around 8 min
      6. As soon as it says write completed, turn off the ignition, wait 10 sec, turn the ignition on, hit ok you are finished writing the tune
      7. Confirm the truck runs without codes and you are good to go.
