This will explain how to complete the ECM Unlock & Tune The Truck

 

ECM Unlock Service Instructions

 

If you purchased an ECM unlock order from us then you will receive a shipping label via email to get the Cummins ECM To HP Tuners for the unlocking Process.

In addition; Fill out the shipping form found in the link below and please place the form INSIDE your shipping box. You must also write your order number on the OUTSIDE of the box where it is visible for HP Tuners

We have had the best luck pulling the ECM out by removing the throttle valve under the hood and pulling the PCM straight out from there.

After the ECM has been returned to you unlocked, begin by reinstalling it into the truck then proceed by installing the programs listed below.

 

3. Install the bypass cable before you start the read, please install your Bypass Cable into the gateway module under the dash. All you need to do is run 2 wire connector to the gateway module and plug the OBD part into the factory OBD port.
 
    1. Remove the bypass cable from the bag.

           b.   Plug in the Bypass cable into to your factory OBD2 port.

          c. Plug the 2 pin connector in under the dash, the port is located above the parking brake lever.

Stock Read (Unlocked ECM Reads)

Open "VCM Editor" for reading‌ ‌&‌ ‌writing.‌ ‌
"VCM Editor" will be used if you have an MPVI4, your files should be saved as "filename.hpt". 
 
Put the ignition in the run position with the engine off and the mpvi4 plugged into the computer.
To‌ ‌read‌ ‌your‌ ‌ECM‌ ‌ ‌select‌ ‌the‌ ‌green‌ ‌read‌ ‌arrow‌ ‌in‌ ‌the‌ ‌top‌ ‌center.‌
If you cannot select the read button, select File>Close to close the opened item.
 
 
- Select the MODULES you would like to read. (choose read entire)
 
 
‌Save‌ ‌this‌ ‌file‌ ‌to‌ ‌your‌ ‌desktop‌, include your first/last name and VIN in the file name.
 

Info Log Instructions

Step 1: Click the VCM Suite Info button in either the VCM Editor or VCM Scanner program.

 

Step 2: Click the blue circle "i" icon to poll the software and the vehicle. Note: make sure your cable is connected to the vehicle and the vehicle's key is in the ON position before clicking the blue icon. This step may take five to twenty seconds to complete. 

 

Step 3: When the Infolog has completed generating, click on the Save icon. Save it with your first and last name and VIN. 

 

Step 4: Email the stock read and and info log to stockfile@duramaxtuner.com. The tuning department will build the tune files and they will be emailed over once they have been completed.

 

**When the stock ecm reads have been emailed to the representative, the typical turnaround time is 1-2 business days. 

 

**THIS ECM SWAP PROCESS CAN TAKE UP TO 2 ADDITIONAL HOURS If IF IT IS YOUR FIRST TIME. IT IS RECCOMENDED THIS BE DONE BY A MECHANIC OR SOMEONE FAMILIAR WITH VEHICLES AND TOOLS**

 

** If you have purchased your own module whether it is a New 2022 or a used 2019-2021 module, this will not automatically work in the truck. An Unlock/flash is required at Calibrated Power Solutions before it will work in the Vehicle. Please Ship ECM in with order number and salesman’s name**

 

Tune loading instructions

 

After you receive the tune files from us, start by opening up the Vcm editor program and hit the open button in the top left corner. (start with the ignition on and the mpvi4 plugged into the truck/computer)



1. Search out the tune file you would like to load and open it

 



2. With the tune file open hit the red arrow at the top to open the write feature





3. If this is your first time flashing you will need to choose specific under licensing and hit yes to proceed, skip to step 4 if this is not the first time loading the tune. (The ecm takes 6 credits)







 

4. With the writing box up choose write entire and hit the write button

 

 

5. When doing a full flash it will take around 10 min
 
6. As soon as it says write completed, turn off the ignition, wait 10 sec, turn the ignition on, hit ok you are finished writing the tune
 
7. Confirm the truck runs without codes and you are good to go.
