      2020-2021 Ford Blackbox Tuner

      (If you have a 2022 model please call in to setup an appointment as the steps below will not work, do not attempt to read your 2022 ecm as credits will be used)

         

      Thank you for Purchasing your 2020+ Ford Tuning Package. The Black Box Tuner has streamlined the 2020 Ford Tuning process. Please follow the steps below in order. Do this in a safe location with internet, preferable your house or shop. Weekdays when support is open is also suggested. You will be required to Email in stock reads and information before receiving the tune files. Tune files can usually be expected within 1 business day.

       

               Setting up the Blackbox:

      1. Layout your Black Box device & Content in the supplied bag.
      2. Download the software found on the Drive or at https://drive.google.com/file/d/1sH_9ToP63Q3W75YU7rK8IRlQ_VAw4L_6/view?usp=drive_link
      3. INSTALL VCP for 32 or 64 bit.
      4. Install The Autoflasher software (You may need to update this program several times to bring it up to date, updates are prompted when opening the program)
      5. Perform the Firmware update if prompted to do so.
      6. After Installing, Open the Autoflasher Software & Plug in your black box with the supplied USB cable.
      7. Go to Cable->Check Firmware (if firmware update is available then do it and if not then proceed)

               Reading Your Stock Engine Tune:

      1. For ECM tuning, locate your ECM connector, power jumper harness, and black box. Your ECM connector will plug directly into the ECM located under the hood on the passenger side. Use the connector closest to the passenger fender. **Push the locking tab in, and the gray latch will pull down/forward towards you**
      2. After your Black box is installed/connected to the ECM, hook the positive and negative cable up to the battery, and then the USB cable to the computer. In auto flasher, now select service mode-> Read. This will now read your factory ECM file off. Please save this somewhere safe and do not rename the file. You will be required to send this file to us.
      3. You may now remove the blackbox and reinstall the factory connector then proceed to the trans read.

               Reading Your Stock Trans Tune:

      1. For TCM tuning, locate the obd2 connector and connect it to the blackbox. Your OBD2 connector just needs to be plugged into the factory port under your dash.
      2. After the blackbox is connected you will want to push the button once without your foot on the brake or turn the key twice to turn the ignition on. In auto flasher, now select OBD-> Read-> TCU.  This will now read your factory TCM file off. Please save this somewhere safe and do not rename the file. You will be required to send this file to us.
      3. Turn the ignition off and proceed to the next step.
      4. LOCATE THE CABLE S/N & ECU S/N in the Autoflasher software. Attach a photo or type out both the device #’s along with your stock ecm and tcm file then email those to Stockfile@duramaxtuner.com. Including your order number and original sales rep on the email is also appreciated.
      5. Your ECM READ IS NOW COMPLETE. Disconnect from the ECM. Plug Your OEM connector back in.

              **** Tune files will typically be returned within 24 hours. Keep in mind the tuning department is not open on the weekends****

       

               Loading tunes with your Blackbox:

      1. Download the tune files to your computer into a place where you can find them.
      2. For the engine tune get your Black Box Tuner and computer hooked back up to the ECM and the battery terminals.
      3. Open Autoflasher->CABLE->Connect-> Service mode->Write-> Select the sotf tune file. This process will take a few minutes. Once complete you can plug your factory harness back in.
      4. For the transmission tune you take the Black Box Tuner & THE OBD Connector then plug it into the OBD2 port under the dash.
      5. Turn the ignition on without the engine running.
      6. In the Auto Flasher software you can now select-> OBD-> Write-> Select TCU-> Select the mod tcm tune.
      7. The install is now complete and you may proceed with the switch installation if you ordered shift on the fly.
